Historic Destinations

Ridgecrest and its regional attractions provide a one-of-a-kind adventure that will stimulate your sense of wonder, your need for discovery and a connection to nature only you know how to experience.

The California desert features a seemingly endless landscape of unique beauty that adorns this region. From wildlife that prowl at dusk to wildflowers which dot hundreds of square miles, people from around the world visit the region where Joshua trees pierce the rough hewn horizon, and jagged peaks of the Coso mountain range reflect sunrises and sunsets that only the desert in this part of the world can provide.

From rock climbing to wildflower hunting to camping, there’s no shortage of Ridgecrest area adventures. There's hiking that's popular with both avid adventurers and those who want a slow-paced jaunt through small ghost towns, to ATV riding and fishing, everyone can have something to do that satisfies your sense of adventure and your need to commune with the outdoors.

The Ridgecrest area provides a scenic and challenging adventure that thrives in legendary public lands such as Death Valley National Park and the Mojave National Preserve.

Although the main characteristic of summer in the desert is a dry, arid heat (it can reach up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit on the desert floor), in the fall, temperatures stay between 70 and 90 degrees during the day.

When adventuring in the Ridgecrest area, make sure you budget for more water and more time that you think you would normally need, even if you visit during a more pleasant time of year. Take your time and make sure to enjoy the landscape at dusk or dawn to see the mountains and desert floor come alive with colors.
